Display Energy Certificate (DEC) Legislation

 

Public buildings which have an internal area of over 1000m² and are occupied by public authorities or organisations offering services to a large number of people must display an Energy Certificate (DEC) in a position clearly visible to the visiting public. This certificate must be reviewed annually.

Fire Risk Assessment Legislation

 

Fire safety law changed in October 2006 with the introduction of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. The requirement for businesses to have fire certificates has been abolished and any previously held are no longer valid. Instead the law emphasises preventing fires and reducing risks. The law makes it your responsibility to ensure the safety of everyone who uses your premises.

In 1995 the Contaminated Land Legislation Act was introduced (Part 2A of the Environmental Protection Act 1990). It came into force in 2000 following the publication of accompanying “statutory guidance”.
